I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.

I have a BA First Class Honours Degree in Journalism from Robert Gordon University as well as Standard Grades and Highers from my school education. I have achieved the award for 100 words per minute in Teeline Shorthand from North East Scotland College. Throughout my previous employment I have undertaken extensive courses and training including customer service, health and safety, various IT software, understanding dog behaviour and the use of behavioural medications.
I am responsible for helping to promote the work of Dogs Trust, actively work to rehome rescue dogs and raise awareness of animal welfare. I assist with the care and welfare of dogs and observe and assess their behaviour to help find a suitable home.
I have cared for my own rescue Shetland Pony for over 18 years and for the same period of time I have cared for the animals on a local yard which include 8 horses. From a young age I have been responsible for running the yard and ensuring high standards of care when the owner is away. I frequently handle the purchasing of feed and bedding, handle the worming schedule and take care of the vet and farrier call outs. I have extensive experience of carrying out daily yard duties to a high standard including mucking out, grooming, bathing, cleaning tack and lunging. I have experience handling horses with behavioural issues as well as undertaking some training with horses - for example, getting a frightened horse accustomed to and happy to travel in a horse box. I am currently working towards achieving the British Horse Society (BHS) Stage 1 in Complete Horsemanship and wish to continue developing my skills and knowledge and hope to continue advancing through the BHS stages.
I have extensive experience working with horses and caring for their needs on a daily basis. I am passionate about devoting my time to horses and building a career working with them. I enjoy working as part of a team and I am also comfortable working on my own and using my initiative. I have excellent communication skills, can handle large and demanding workloads, have experience managing people and helping to motivate and support team members. I am a fast learner and keen to develop my skills.
I undertook weekly horse riding lessons for over 10 years and have extensive experience in jumping and cross country as well as some more basic dressage. I have also taken some Carriage Driving lessons. I have been told I have a very sympathetic style of riding and often rode horses who required some additional training to allow them to be safely ridden by less experienced riders. I worked with the instructor to help address horses with behavioural issues or fears.
I frequently competed with two ponies in in-hand classes at shows across North East Scotland for several years. Through my riding school I also took part in Show Jumping competitions. I have gained very valuable experience preparing both horse and rider/handler for shows, as well as loading horses in the trailer and handling them while at the show.
