Worked in a riding school (East Lodge Farm) aged 15 -17 where I initially volunteered on the yard, then was given a job. Here I learnt to run a busy yard and developed substantial people skills. My knowledge within the industry broadened and I continued to become increasingly effective when carrying out stable management tasks. I also rode a variety of horse and pony, particularly when they were misbehaving and my confidence when riding improved greatly. During my gap year, I worked for Bletsoe Brown ltd, a hunt livery yard with a range of horses. Here I learnt to turn out to a high standard as well as developing my skills further in clipping, plaiting, riding, stable management etc. This was also a busy feed merchant so I had the opportunity to broaden my people skills and customer service, as well as learning a great amount about livestock and equine feeds and bedding. We also managed a small flock of sheep, where I lambed, sheared and carried out general tasks.
Strong work ethic and very hard working. Efficient when working on stable management tasks. I can carry out a range of turn out tasks such as pull, plait, clip, trim, bath, groom. Always maintain a high standard of work. Greatly passionate about the industry. Throroughly enjoy working with and riding horses. Can work on my own or as part of a team. Knowledgeable about the equine industry. Leadership skills. Capable of riding a variety of horse.
I am capable of riding a variety of horse from fit sports and competition horses to youngsters, horses that are coming back into work or horses that simply just need to be exercised. I can successfully and efficiently ride on both the flat and over jumps with confidence. Along with this hacking and cross country schooling are also areas I can carry out. I also have the ability to ride multiple horses in a day as I am physically fit enough to do so.
As I have never owned my own horse or pony and never loaned my opportunities to compete were minimal. However when I started college many opportunities arose and I competed many of the college horses both dressage and show jumping. I competed dressage Intro - Novice where I placed and competed around 80cm courses. During my 2 years I also took part in intercollege competitions where I was apart of a college team.
