I’m currently a self employed groom in the Hertfordshire area. I have plenty of knowledge and experience working with horses. I’ve worked with horses for over ten years, ranging from riding school horses to fit eventers and hunters.
I have completed a year in an equestrian college in Ireland and previously worked as a groom/rider/instructor in a yard in dublin. I then moved to the UK and for six months worked as a groom in a young horse selling and competing yard. My duties here include lunging clipping, tacking up, mucking out, and preparing the young horses for show, to be sold, or for hunts. Here i worked with top classes horses competing in show jumping and eventing, and my boss was also field master of the quorn hunt. The yard also had brood mares and foals which I worked alongside the vet and was involved in all aspects of breeding. I then moved to work at a livery yard in Hertfordshire where I worked doing general yard duties but included more riding and schooling of livery horses. I am now self employed as a freelance groom and am working at a livery yard/stunt yard five days a week where I work as a groom and also managing the day to day running of the yard and work alongside the farrier and the vet.
I am a native English speaker, I have also been studying Spanish for eight years, and I have studied a year of Italian in University College Dublin and have also lived in Italy for three months.
I have plenty of experience flatwork riding, I have recieved my BHS stage two flatwork riding qualification. I have schooled horses on the flat and over jumps. Throughout my time in College we had jumping lessons twice a week, which included jumping up to 85cm or jumping a small cross country course. In my previous workplaces I have plenty experience in hacking out, through forests and country side. I currently excericse livery horses at my current job by hacking and schooling.
