currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. Quiet but firm rider, who can deal with quirks if necessary. Ideally within 30 mins of Newark but happy to travel up to an hour for the right place.
From Showjumping, to showing/eventing and foals through to stallions I have experience in all aspects of the equestrian world. I am looking for my next long term journey where I can spend my days working with the animals I love, and carry out my exceptionally high standards for the right person.
No equine qualifications bar a few pony club badges! I have eight GCSE's and am studying for my BTEC Level 3's (A-Level equivalent) in Business, Human Biology and Travel & Tourism.
I started riding at 9 years old as a terrified and unwilling child however this quickly changed as i spent time with horses and discovered a love for them and for the sport. At the age of 12 I started working at my local riding school for a few days a week and continued here for over 3 years. It was a large livery and riding school yard with over 60 horses where my responsibilities included helping run and organize weekly pony club activities and competitions as well as the regular yard jobs of muck-out, feeding, turn-out and schooling the many horses. I really enjoyed teaching one on one with younger children in lead rein lessons. After this I was able to move to a small, private driving yard which involved more focus on each of four horses and the accompanying goats. I enjoyed this for the opportunity to understand more closely the different characters/ needs of these horses. I've loaned 3 very different horses myself over a period of 5 years - more details below.
Worked in large, mixed yard with some, basic teaching responsibilities Worked in small private driving yard with some experience bringing on young horses and looking after other animals Have worked with young children, to develop their confidence and skills both in equine context but also in swimming context when I have assisted in a swim school - this has been both working groups as well as in one-to-one situation. Confident to work independently when I understand the scope of my role
Thanks to working with the riding school’s 60+ horses I’ve worked with all types: from youngsters needing bringing on before introduction to lessons, to older unpredictable horses in need of getting to know or some encouragement. I loaned 3 horses including an ex-hunter school-master – very capable but school weary; a young inexperienced sports horse that needing quiet handling to introduce to a range of disciplines and an amazing BE school master who helped me further my riding skills
Local shows and gridwork in showjumping, hunter trials and x-country - experience of taking completely inexperienced horses as well as school-masters
