I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Being from the land down-under, I don't have any fancy qualifications as Australia's a bit behind like that. I'm honestly happy to just muck out, groom, tack up and do all the jobs around the yards though!
In Australia I am just finishing my second year studying Equine Science whilst working at a pet shop and for an amusement ride company (bouncy castles, bucking bulls etc.)
I have been riding since I was 5, entered the world of horse ownership in my early teens. I had a stock horse mare for many years who I learnt natural horsemanship with, loved to ride completely tackless, rode at pony club for a few years and jumped at about 1m. Since my mare passed away in 2017 I have been studying equine science and working horses for Louise Crosby, a well-known WA horse trainer. I am happy to provide her contact details as a reference to my riding abilities. In my degree so far I have covered mostly equine reproduction (3 subjects worth), equine industry/law, behaviour/training, animal anatomy and the general sciences leading towards my more equine-specific subjects. My reproduction subjects provided experience in all areas of AI and natural breeding of horses. I have also done a short large animal emergency rescue course.
Will be an extremely hard working, friendly face with a funny aussie accent! Fit, strong, confident with difficult horses and a very quick learner!
Happy to just do grooms work or to also work/train horses and adjust my techniques to how you would like your horses ridden. I have most of my experience in re-educating, natural horsemanship and pony club style riding. I have ridden all kinds of horses from tiny ponies (in my younger years) to arabians, racehorses (TBs and SBs) and warmbloods.
I've competed at many pony club competitions, won my most recent ODE at Baldivis in June on a friend's horse. When I did pony club I won Senior Hack of the Year 2014 and the Showjumping Encouragement Award in 2015. I am not a particularly competitive rider though so I was really just doing it to improve my personal riding skills.
