Currently an assistant trainer at top training barn in Southern California. Duties include: running riding school (teaching lessons, care of school horses, etc), riding training barn horses, teaching training barn lessons and helping at shows
My mother is a horse trainer so I have ridden horses competitively my whole life. I have ridden a wide variety of horses, everything from barely broken 3 year olds to Grand Prix horses. During high school I was a working student at a top show barn in Southern California where I rode as many as 10 horses a day. I also competed quite often, usually as a catch rider, showing horses for sale. I am very knowledgable about every aspect of horsemanship, not just the riding. In college I was able to ride at a stable a few times a week, teach lessons 4 times a week, and show young horses for my mother occasionally on the weekends while obtaining my degree. After graduation, I took a position as an assistant trainer at the same training barn where I was previously a working student, which is my current position. I run the riding school (teach ~35 lessons/week), help develop the horses in training (ride ~ 9/day), and help at shows as needed.
-Hacking/exercising horses daily -Showing sale horses -Starting young horses over fences -Problem horses -Summer camps -Teaching a variety of ages and experience levels -Grooming, at home and at shows -Logistics/planning at horse shows and at home -Catch riding -Attention to detail -Life long experience with horses -Team player
-Flat work -Hunters -Jumpers -Equitation -Young horses -Problem horses -Grooming -Scheduling -Teaching
-Competed up to the 3'3" equitation and hunters, wasn't able to compete at a higher level because I did not own a horse that was capable, but I have schooled many horses and comfortable at much bigger heights
-Many year end high point awards
-Won various regional medal finals
-Qualified for various national medal finals
-Shown many young horses in their first competitions
-Shown many horses for sale
-Mostly shown catch rides
