I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.

I have recently attained my BHSII (Stage 4 Coach in Complete Horsemanship), and am an Accreddited Professional Coach (previously the BHS Register of Instructors), meaning that I am insured to teach, have been CRB checked, hold insurance, a child protection certificate, have a valid First aid at work certificate, and attend regular CPD training.
I also hold a BSc. (Hons.) Equine Sports Science degree from Lincoln University, achieved in 2008. I hold a level 4 PTLLS teaching certificate .
BHS Stage 1 BHS Stage 2 BHS Stage 3 PTT (Preliminary Teachers Test) PI (Preliminary Instructor) AI (Assistant Instructor) II (International Instructor Level 2)
Lecturing a range of subject areas, including preparation of teaching materials, delivery of lectures, marking of student work. Course management of a group of students. Daily use of IT (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and others).
I currently hold a lecturing position at an agricultural college, teaching across a wide range of subjects, and course management of a cohort of students. In my role before this as a practical instructor and assessor I taught on practical units including riding, working horses from the ground, stable management, and supervised students on yard duties. Throughout holidays I also cared for the yard horses daily on a sole charge basis, communicating effectively to pass relevant information to other members of staff on the rota. Previous jobs have also included teaching riding school clients, riding competition horses, and general yard work and organisation. All of the roles I have held have included supervision of junior staff, or students, in carrying out their duties, ensuring high standards of care of the horses are maintained at all times, and providing ongoing training.
As a BHSII I have a good grounding across a wide range of areas including horse management, care and riding. My career has spanned a range of roles, enabling me to widen my experience and depth of knowledge at each stage. I especially enjoy riding and improving horses, and am practical and hands on in my approach. I am passionate about providing good quality service, whether it be as a lecturer, instructor, or rider.
My main passion in riding is eventing, however I also enjoy dressage and have been successful competing British Dressage on one of my horses. My other horse has been owned from a 2 year old, and I have backed and ridden her away myself. She now competes in unaffiliated competitions, including eventing. I have previously ridden a wide range of horses, and am confident to ride and handle any type of horse from youngsters to competition horses.
I have competed to British Dressage Elementary level, and achieved qualification to and ridden at Regional and National Championships at the lower levels. I have also previously competed to BE100 level on a client's horse, and continue to compete my own horse unaffiliated across a range of disciplines. I am extremely comfortable traveling to competitions alone and managing the full care of the horses prior to, during, and after competition.
